CVE-2023-40930Public exploit

Mount path traversal via crafted U-disk label

Published Sep 20, 2023 · Updated Sep 25, 2024

Path traversal in Skyworth OS 3.0 allows physically proximate attackers to alter a device's mount path with a crafted U-disk. The print_tags function in /system/bin/blkid writes a crafted LABEL value to standard output without rejecting embedded quotation marks, producing a malformed path that mounts the USB volume at /mnt/ instead of /mnt/usb/. Physical access and a specially prepared U-disk are required; the disclosed result is traversal of the intended USB mount directory, while broader file access or system compromise is not demonstrated.
