Unauthenticated administrator account creation via unchecked role assignment
Published Sep 5, 2023 · Updated Sep 30, 2024
Privilege escalation in KnowStreaming 3.3.0 allows remote attackers to create and access an administrator account without authentication. The user-detail interface reveals the administrator role identifier, and the user-creation interface accepts that identifier without a cookie or token. Network access to the management interface is sufficient; credentials for the new account authenticate with the administrator role and grant administrative control.
