Local code execution via permissive installation ACLs
Published Sep 20, 2023 · Updated Sep 24, 2024
Incorrect permissions in Mitsubishi Electric FA engineering software allow local users to execute code when installed outside the default folder. Installers leave nondefault installation directories writable, allowing a local user to replace or plant files that the affected software later loads as code. The attacker needs local access; successful execution can disclose, alter, or delete application data or crash the software.
