Stored XSS via unneutralized admin form input
Published Sep 14, 2023 · Updated Sep 25, 2024
Stored XSS in mooSocial Software 3.1.6 and 3.1.7 allows remote attackers to run script in an administrator's browser. The group_categories/save handler accepts the data[name] POST value and stores HTML event-handler markup without neutralizing it; the report identifies analogous coupon and edit-menu paths. Exploitation requires an administrator to open an attacker-controlled HTML page, whose cross-site form submission persists the payload for later rendering.
