CVE-2023-40796Public exploit

Arbitrary command execution via unsafe shell concatenation

Published Aug 25, 2023 · Updated Oct 2, 2024

Command injection in PHICOMM K2 Firmware 22.6.529.216 allows local users to execute arbitrary commands through crafted LuCI input. The shadowsocksr.lua, timerbooter.lua, and wifireboot.lua handlers concatenate user-controlled content into shell commands passed to luci.sys.call. Execution requires local access and user interaction, and successful injection runs commands in the router firmware's execution context.
