CVE-2023-40695Network attack vector

User impersonation via logout session persistence

Published May 3, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Insufficient session expiration in IBM Cognos Controller 10.4.1, 10.4.2, and 11.0.0 allows remote authenticated users to impersonate users. The logout path leaves the existing server-side session valid instead of invalidating it, so the associated session token remains accepted. Exploitation requires an authenticated user to obtain and reuse another user's still-valid session token, enabling actions within that user's permissions.
