CVE-2023-40687Network attack vector

Service interruption via crafted RUNSTATS command

Published Dec 4, 2023 · Updated Feb 13, 2025

Improper input validation in IBM Db2 10.5, 11.1, and 11.5 allows remote authenticated users to interrupt service via RUNSTATS. The RUNSTATS processing path mishandles a specially crafted command against an 8 TB or larger table, but IBM has not disclosed the implementation fault or failure mode. Exploitation requires a database connection and RUNSTATS authority over the target table; the demonstrated consequence is limited to denial of service.
