Browser script execution via reflected file parameter
Published Sep 13, 2023 · Updated Sep 26, 2024
Reflected XSS in OpenKnowledgeMaps Head Start 7 allows remote attackers to execute JavaScript in a user's browser through a crafted URL. The displayPDF.php endpoint reflects the file query parameter into its HTML response without neutralizing injected markup, causing script elements to execute. Exploitation requires a user to open an attacker-crafted link; the code runs in the application's origin and can read or alter browser-accessible data.
