Daemon crash or hang via malformed SAML URI
Published Aug 30, 2023 · Updated Feb 28, 2025
Denial of service in Splunk Web allows remote authenticated users to crash or hang the Splunk Enterprise daemon through malformed SAML. The SAML XML parser accepts a modified URI despite failed signature validation and attempts to access that URI. Exposure requires SAML SSO; installations using another authentication scheme are unaffected, and the consequence is interruption of the Splunk daemon.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
