Mnemonic disclosure via passwordless private API request
Published Aug 25, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Information disclosure in Freighter before 5.3.1 allows remote attackers to read an unlocked wallet's mnemonic via a malicious website. The popup message listener's getMnemonicPhrase handler returned the stored mnemonic without requiring the wallet password. A user must visit attacker-controlled content while Freighter is unlocked; disclosure of the recovery phrase exposes control of the wallet's keys and funds.
