Client crash via unchecked YUV plane reads
Published Aug 31, 2023 · Updated Feb 13, 2025
Out-of-bounds read in FreeRDP clients 3.0.0-beta1 through 3.0.0-beta2 allows remote attackers to crash clients via crafted RDP graphics data. The general_YUV444ToRGB_8u_P3AC4R_BGRX loop reads Y, U, and V plane bytes to the requested region dimensions without verifying that each pSrc plane contains enough data. A malicious or compromised RDP server must deliver AVC444 graphics content to client-side image decoding; the FreeRDP proxy is unaffected because it passes image data through.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
