Client memory corruption via unchecked YUV dimensions
Published Aug 31, 2023 · Updated Feb 13, 2025
Out-of-bounds write in FreeRDP 3.0.0-beta1 through 3.0.0-beta2 allows remote attackers to corrupt client memory via RDP graphics data. In general_YUV444ToRGB_8u_P3AC4R_BGRX, writePixelBGRX receives offsets derived from nHeight and srcStep without adequate validation; the upstream advisory does not isolate the exact faulty calculation. A client must connect to a malicious RDP server and process YUV444 graphics; the demonstrated result is a client abort under AddressSanitizer and memory corruption, not established code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=>= 3.0.0-beta1, < 3.0.0-beta3

What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
