CVE-2023-40573Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Remote code execution via stale content-author checks

Published Aug 24, 2023 · Updated Oct 3, 2024

Improper access control in XWiki Platform allows remote authenticated users to execute server-side Groovy code through scheduled jobs. GroovyJob authorizes a scheduled script against the unchanged content author instead of the effective metadata author of the edit supplying the script. Exploitation requires edit rights to a document last changed by a user with programming rights and an administrator to visit content that triggers or schedules the job.
