Client memory corruption via unchecked progressive rectangles
Published Aug 31, 2023 · Updated Nov 3, 2025
Out-of-bounds write in FreeRDP clients before 2.11.0 and 3.0.0-beta1 through 3.0.0-beta2 allows remote attackers to corrupt memory. progressive_decompress derives source offsets from update rectangles and copies decoded tile data without sufficient destination-bound checks. A malicious or compromised RDP server must return crafted progressive graphics data to a connecting client; the FreeRDP proxy is unaffected.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=< 2.11.0
