Unauthenticated file deletion via unchecked deleteCanvas path
Published May 3, 2024 · Updated Sep 18, 2024
Path traversal in LG Simple Editor 3.21.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to delete arbitrary files through deleteCanvas requests. The deleteCanvas method uses a user-supplied path in file operations without validating that the resolved path remains in an allowed directory. No authentication is required, and successful exploitation deletes files with SYSTEM privileges, enabling loss of application or host data and a service interrupt.
