Arbitrary file deletion via unvalidated mkdir paths
Published May 3, 2024 · Updated Sep 18, 2024
Path traversal in LG Electronics LG Simple Editor 3.21.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to delete arbitrary files. The mkdir command in the makeDetailContent method passes a user-supplied path to file operations without validating that it remains within an allowed directory. No authentication or user interaction is required; successful exploitation deletes files with SYSTEM authority, with resulting service interruption or host damage.
