CVE-2023-40475Network attack vector

Code execution via unchecked AES3 channel count

Published May 3, 2024 · Updated Nov 4, 2025

Integer overflow in GStreamer gst-plugins-bad before 1.22.6 allows remote attackers to execute code via a malformed MXF file. The MXF D-10 AES3 handler accepts channel counts above eight and buffers shorter than four bytes, causing overflow during audio-data copying and out-of-bounds heap writes. Exploitation requires an application to process attacker-supplied MXF content and can crash that process or execute code in its context.
