Buffer overflows in a component of Sierra Wireless ALEOS 4.16 and earlier allow remote attackers on a local network to crash its captive portal. Sierra Wireless identifies stack- and heap-based overflows but has not disclosed the component, input field, or code path that mishandles the input. Exploitation requires local-area-network access; the vendor also reports possible code execution in the root context.
