CVE-2023-4046Network attack vector

Content-process crash via stale WASM JIT value

Published Aug 1, 2023 · Updated Feb 13, 2025

A JIT miscompilation flaw in Mozilla Firefox before 116 allows remote attackers to crash the content process via crafted WebAssembly. The WASM alias analyser skips a block-ending catchable call, reusing a stale global value during compilation instead of reloading the updated value. Exploitation requires loading specially crafted WebAssembly in an affected browser; the documented consequence is incorrect execution or a content-process crash, with no demonstrated sandbox escape.
