CVE-2023-4045Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Cross-origin image disclosure via untracked canvas taint

Published Aug 1, 2023 · Updated Feb 13, 2025

Origin validation error in Mozilla Firefox before 116 and Firefox ESR before 102.14 or 115.1 allows remote attackers to read cross-origin image data. The Canvas2D OffscreenCanvas path fails to propagate cross-origin taint when drawImage copies a protected image, so getImageData returns its pixels. Attacker-controlled web content triggers the flaw without authentication or action beyond normal browsing; the bounded impact is image-pixel disclosure.
