CVE-2023-40356Network attack vector

MFA device enrollment via unchecked skipMFA action

Published Jul 9, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Authentication bypass in Ping Identity PingOne MFA Integration Kit before 2.3.1 allows remote authenticated users to register an MFA device. With Prompt Users to Set Up MFA enabled, the PingOne MFA IdP Adapter's skipMFA action advances device pairing without challenging an existing registered factor. Knowledge of the target account's first-factor credential is required, after which the added device can satisfy later MFA challenges.
