Availability impact via external-entity URL access
Published Oct 10, 2023 · Updated Sep 18, 2024
Missing XML validation in SAP PowerDesigner Client 16.7 allows remote attackers to disrupt the client through a crafted BPMN2 file. The BPMN2 importer processes URLs declared by external XML entities and accesses them even though the imported model does not use those entities. Exploitation requires a user to import an untrusted document, and SAP reports only an availability impact without specifying whether the client hangs or crashes.
