Administrator account creation via unsanitized pdomain parameter
Published Mar 27, 2024 · Updated Aug 5, 2024
DOM-based XSS in Supermicro X11SSM-F, X11SAE-F, and X11SSE-F BMC firmware 1.66 allows remote attackers to run script in an administrator session. The modify_nm_policy PageInit function decodes the pdomain query parameter and assigns it to the PolicyDomain element through innerHTML without sanitization. Exploitation requires a logged-in BMC administrator to open a crafted link; injected script can steal the CSRF token and create an administrator account.
