CVE-2023-40272Network attack vector

Arbitrary file read via JDBC parameter injection

Published Aug 17, 2023 · Updated Feb 13, 2025

Improper input validation in Apache Airflow Spark Provider before 4.1.3 allows remote attackers to read server files through JDBC parameters. SparkJdbcHook's _build_jdbc_application_arguments method concatenates conn_prefix into the JDBC URL without rejecting '?' query delimiters. A crafted connection must reach the Spark JDBC hook; injected URL parameters can expose files readable by the Airflow server process.
