Job-control message disclosure and tampering via certificate misvalidation
Published Aug 11, 2023 · Updated Oct 10, 2024
Improper certificate validation in Veritas NetBackup Snapshot Manager before 10.2.0.1 allows remote attackers to alter RabbitMQ job-control messages. A RabbitMQ service misconfiguration fails to validate client certificates properly, accepting credentials from untrusted clients for service interaction. Network reachability to that service is sufficient to read or alter messages and interrupt backup or restore jobs, but snapshot data and primary-server RabbitMQ instances are outside the impact.
