CVE-2023-40254

Malicious updates via missing integrity verification

Published Aug 11, 2023 · Updated Oct 10, 2024

Download without integrity checks in Genians Genian NAC and Genian ZTNA allows local users with administrative privileges to install malicious updates. The flaw affects interactions with Genian Update servers, but Genians has not disclosed which update-processing locus fails to verify downloaded code or how verification is bypassed. Exploitation requires high privileges and high complexity on the local system; successful use replaces trusted software across policy servers, sensors, or agents.
