CVE-2023-40222

Code execution via malformed CO file parsing

Published Feb 4, 2025 · Updated Feb 5, 2025

Heap-based buffer overflow in Ashlar-Vellum CAD products before 12 SP2 Build (1204.200) allows attackers to execute code via CO files. The CO-file parser used by Cobalt, Cobalt Share, Xenon, Argon, and Lithium fails to validate user-supplied data before writing into a heap buffer. Exploitation requires a user to open an attacker-supplied CO file, and successful code runs in the current application process.
