Authenticated data modification via unchecked AJAX handlers
Published Jun 12, 2024 · Updated Apr 28, 2026
Missing authorization in Highcompress Image Compressor 6.0.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to modify plugin data. The verify_highcompress_process_auto, verify_highcompress_process_images, and verify_highcompress_api_key AJAX handlers perform sensitive actions without capability checks. Subscriber-level access is sufficient to compress images and verify or modify the plugin API key.
