Authenticated local file disclosure via unchecked new_url path
Published Sep 4, 2023 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
Path traversal in the Media from FTP WordPress plugin before 11.17 allows remote authenticated users to read arbitrary local files. The mediafromftp-update-ajax-action handler accepts an attacker-controlled new_url path and imports files from outside the web root into the Media Library. Author-level WordPress access and a valid nonce are required; code execution additionally requires moving a suitable file to an executable destination.
