CVE-2023-40182Network attack vector

Account enumeration via recovery-form timing discrepancy

Published Aug 25, 2023 · Updated Sep 30, 2024

Observable timing discrepancy in the SilverwareGames.io Recovery form before 1.3.7 allows remote attackers to enumerate registered email addresses. The Recovery form takes noticeably different amounts of time to respond depending on whether the submitted email address exists in the service database. No authentication or user interaction is required, but repeated timing measurements are needed and the impact is limited to disclosing account existence.
