CVE-2023-40158Network attack vector

Authenticated command execution via hidden user-management functionality

Published Aug 23, 2023 · Updated Oct 11, 2024

Hidden functionality in CBC digital video recorder firmware allows remote authenticated users to execute OS commands or alter settings. The undocumented behavior resides in the recorders' user-management module, but CBC has not disclosed the command path or validation failure. Valid recorder credentials and network access are required; successful exploitation grants command execution or permits device-setting changes.
