CVE-2023-40074

Persistent device denial of service via invalid XML

Published Dec 4, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Denial of service in Android Framework 11, 12, 12L, and 13 allows local users to persistently interrupt an affected device. PersistableBundle.saveToXml accepts unsupported values from a job configuration and writes them to persisted XML rather than dropping them. Local code can supply the invalid job configuration without additional execution privileges or user interaction, leaving the interruption persistent.
