Browser script execution via unescaped license key
Published Aug 14, 2023 · Updated Oct 2, 2024
Reflected XSS in ScanCode.io before 32.5.2 allows remote attackers to run scripts in a visitor's browser through a crafted license URL. When a nonexistent license key is requested, license_details_view interpolates the unescaped key into an HTML 404 response. Exploitation requires a user to open the crafted URL; script execution in that user's origin can expose session data or perform actions as that user.
