Code execution via malformed KBD file parsing
Published Aug 23, 2023 · Updated Sep 27, 2024
Memory corruption in Hitachi EH-VIEW KeypadDesigner allows local users to execute arbitrary code by opening a crafted KBD file. Hitachi has not disclosed the exact bounds operation or affected function in the KBD parser. Exploitation requires user interaction to open the file in the local application, and the same malformed input can disclose process memory.
