CVE-2023-39948Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Remote process crash via uncaught CDR exception

Published Aug 11, 2023 · Updated Feb 13, 2025

Uncaught exception handling in eProsima Fast DDS allows remote attackers to crash networked processes with a malformed RTPS DATA submessage. Cdr::read_encapsulation rejects an unexpected CDR encapsulation kind by throwing BadParamException, but the Fast DDS receive path does not catch it. Any unauthenticated peer able to send the crafted submessage to a matched DDS endpoint can abort that process, interrupting its publish-subscribe service.
