Root command execution via unsanitized hostname parameter
Published Aug 21, 2023 · Updated Jul 9, 2026
OS command injection in NVK iBSG 3.5 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands as root through the admin web portal. The /manage/network-basic.php endpoint passes shell metacharacters from system_hostname into command execution even though only the browser-side field filters input. An iBSG administrator account and direct request manipulation are required; successful injection runs with root privileges and can fully alter or interrupt the gateway.
