Unauthenticated router crash via unchecked list parsing
Published Aug 21, 2023 · Updated Jul 9, 2026
Stack-based overflow in Tenda AC8V4 firmware 16.03.34.06 allows remote attackers to crash the router via a crafted list parameter. The /goform/SetVirtualServerCfg handler passes list through websGetVar into save_virtualser_data, where sscanf parses it into four stack variables without a published bounds check. Network reachability to the management endpoint is sufficient; exploitation interrupts routing by crashing the firmware.
