Remote code execution via unrestricted generated Python
Published Aug 15, 2023 · Updated Oct 8, 2024
Code injection in LlamaIndex llama-index before 0.9.14 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code through a crafted query prompt. PandasQueryEngine passes LLM-generated Python from a natural-language query to unrestricted exec and eval calls without isolating dangerous built-ins. Exploitation requires an application to expose the engine to attacker-controlled prompts; successful code runs with the application's process privileges.
