CVE-2023-3966Network attack vector

Service crash via unchecked Geneve metadata length

Published Feb 22, 2024 · Updated Feb 13, 2025

Denial of service in Open vSwitch 2.12 and later allows remote attackers to crash ovs-vswitchd with crafted Geneve packets. The TC flower offload parser walks Geneve options using each declared length without verifying that the remaining metadata contains the full option. Exploitation requires nondefault Linux TC flow hardware offload and interrupts switching by crashing ovs-vswitchd.
