Authenticated command execution through loadable UDF
Published Oct 17, 2024 · Updated Oct 20, 2024
Command execution through the sys_exec UDF in MariaDB Server 10.5 allows remote authenticated users to run operating-system commands. A user with FILE privilege can write a shared library into the plugin directory, register it as a UDF, and invoke sys_exec inside the server process. MariaDB disputes the issue because this documented feature requires appropriate privileges and configuration and crosses no privilege boundary.
