Arbitrary file read via include_code path traversal
Published Sep 8, 2023 · Updated Sep 26, 2024
Path traversal in Hexo before 7.2.0 allows attackers to read arbitrary files through crafted include_code path arguments. The includeCodeTag handler joined the supplied path to the source directory and passed it to hexo-fs readFile without restricting the resolved path to known source documents. Exploitation requires control of content processed during site generation; on Windows, backslash traversal exposes local file contents in generated output.
