CVE-2023-39553Network attack vector

File read via unvalidated database URL parameters

Published Aug 11, 2023 · Updated Feb 13, 2025

Improper input validation in Apache Airflow Drill Provider before 2.4.3 allows remote attackers to read server files via crafted connection parameters. DrillHook.get_conn builds a SQLAlchemy database URL from connection metadata and passed query-bearing values to create_engine without rejecting a question mark. Exploitation requires control of malicious Drill connection parameters; successful use exposes server-local file contents without reported write or execution impact.
