Device crash via uninitialized ICMPv6 buffer index
Published Feb 20, 2024 · Updated Nov 4, 2025
Buffer over-read in Gecko Platform 4.3.1.0 and uC-TCP-IP 3.06.01 allows remote attackers to crash devices via a crafted ICMPv6 packet. NetICMPv6_TxMsgErrValidate uses the uninitialized ICMP_MsgIx value 0xffff to index DataPtr when an erroneous IPv6 header reaches error handling before normal index initialization. The target must process the packet with debug argument checking disabled; dereferencing the resulting invalid pointer can terminate the network stack.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
