CVE-2023-39528Network attack vector

Authenticated file read via unvalidated email path

Published Aug 7, 2023 · Updated Oct 3, 2024

Path traversal in PrestaShop before 8.1.1 allows remote authenticated users to read arbitrary server files through the back office. The displayAjaxEmailHTML method builds an email-file path from attacker-controlled input and passes it to file_exists and file_get_contents without first verifying that its resolved path remains under PS_ROOT_DIR. A highly privileged back-office account is required, and files outside the installation are exposed only when server configuration permits traversal beyond the project root.
