CVE-2023-39520Public exploit

SYSTEM code execution via PowerShell profile loading

Published Aug 7, 2023 · Updated Oct 3, 2024

Local privilege escalation in Cryptomator 1.9.2 and earlier allows local users to execute code as SYSTEM through MSI repair. The repair custom actions launch PowerShell as SYSTEM without -NoProfile, causing the initiating user's profile script to execute at SYSTEM integrity. Exploitation requires a low-privileged local account plus access to an affected MSI and grants arbitrary SYSTEM-level code execution.
