Account takeover via unescaped device names
Published Sep 5, 2023 · Updated Feb 13, 2025
Stored XSS in Cacti before 1.2.25 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript in a privileged user's browser. The reports_admin.php device selector passes a stored host description into textBoxWidth, which concatenates it into HTML and appends it to the DOM. Exploitation requires Sites/Devices/Data permissions and a same-or-higher-privileged user to open the affected report, enabling account takeover or arbitrary actions as that user.
