CVE-2023-39508Network attack vector

Authenticated code execution via under-scoped Run Task authorization

Published Aug 5, 2023 · Updated Feb 13, 2025

Authorization bypass in Apache Airflow before 2.6.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute DAG tasks beyond their permissions. The webserver /run handler accepts selected DAG and task identifiers and queues execution after checking only broad DAG-edit and task-instance-create permissions. An account with those permissions can run code in the webserver context and reach DAGs otherwise outside its authorized scope.
