CVE-2023-39483

Information disclosure via J2K buffer over-read

Published May 3, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

An out-of-bounds read in PDF-XChange J2K parsing allows remote attackers to disclose process memory from affected desktop applications. The JPEG2000 parser reads past the end of an allocated buffer when it processes crafted data in a J2K file or PDF stream. The attack requires a user to visit a malicious page or open a malicious file, and code execution requires chaining with another vulnerability.
