CVE-2023-39480Known exploitationPublic exploitNetwork attack vector

Arbitrary file creation via recursive path assignment

Published May 3, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Arbitrary file creation in Softing Secure Integration Server 1.22.0.8686 allows remote authenticated users to write server files via OPC UA. The FileDirectory MoveOrCopy rename flow recursively assigns a parent directory path to an uninitialized child File object, linking it to an attacker-chosen Windows path. Exploitation requires high-privilege OPC UA access and earlier chain steps to create and initialize the objects; combined with other flaws, the primitive can stage a DLL for root-context code execution.
