CVE-2023-39461Network attack vector

Arbitrary file write via unsanitized event logs

Published May 3, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Improper log neutralization in Triangle MicroWorks SCADA Data Gateway 5.1.3.20324 allows remote attackers to write arbitrary files. The event-log handler emits attacker-controlled content without properly sanitizing the log output before it is written. Exploitation requires authentication, but that mechanism can be bypassed; root code execution requires chaining the file-write primitive with another vulnerability.
